How to Start Your Own Business

Ah, the American Dream: Work for yourself so that you don't have to take anyone's crap. They always say that you should find something that you would do for free, & then find a way to make a living at it.

Bad idea.

I've found in my experience as a business owner that I love teaching Spanish, & I especially love teaching at my studio. The problem is that I would indeed do this for free, so I don't feel like I need to charge anyone for it. That makes it tough to earn a living, I must say.

So my advice to you, if you are so inclined, is to find something that you're good at, but that you wouldn't do unless someone paid you to do it. Then open a business.

greetings, looking around the blogs i found yours and definitley not by happenstance. we have alot in common it seems..i am 32 and have been a biz-ness owner for about seven years. my sentiments exactly on doing what you love for free not making a living. so i am now in the market of putting my busines son the back burner and getting a J-O-B. i feel good about it, i have been quite isolated working from home and quite miss the camraderie i will no doubt create in a office environment, it has it's pluses and minuses like everything but i am jumping back in. so i hope to stay abreat as your ship makes it's departure too. thanks for blogging about it. i may do the same. funny as i said how many similarities we have, i too have no cable and rent from the library and just this year upgraded to netflix! i also ove thrift stores and teach yoga. be well and goddessspeed!
ps i am not sure how to subscribe to your blog..is that the same as the feed subscription? clueless about computers? makes two of us if so..ciao!
