Being a very interesting obelisk

There are lots of cool monuments & plaques all over Auckland commemorating the early settlers & their deeds, many of them stationed in peaceful parks around the city. This one made the editor in me laugh & laugh.

Ha! Initially felt bad for the guy being remembered and the guy who made the mistake. But actually the mistake probably makes the memorial more memorable than not this way. :-)

I think a lot of people agree with you. The guy died in 1853. In 160 years, no one thought to replace the plaque!
